POR:TA TALKS #1 took place at the Ando Living Rooftop, where we explored the question Is AI the Future of Art? This marked the first in a series of conversations designed to provoke thought, offer critical insight, and create space for a deeper dive into challenging topics. At a time when artificial intelligence is shaping every aspect of our lives, we examined what this means for art and artists: Is it simply a new tool? Does it change how we value and experience art? Or does it pose an intrinsic risk to art itself?
The panel brought together three well-known voices from Lisbon’s ever-expanding art scene, sparking a lively and engaging discussion.
Delfina Sena, originally from Buenos Aires, founder of 100 Collectors and curator at Artpool, shared her extensive experience in the digital art space. Her deep knowledge of blockchain-based art as well as art history offered a unique perspective to the conversation.
Rudolfo Quintas, a Portuguese visual artist, addressed the increasingly complex and multilayered relationship between culture and technology — a central theme in his artistic practice. Throughout his career, he has presented his work at institutions such as Fundação Champalimaud and Harvard University.
Tomek Sadurski, born in Poland and now based in Lisbon, after spending significant time in the U.S. and Germany, contributed his interdisciplinary perspective. While drawing lies at the core of his practice, he incorporates diverse media including painting, textile work, performance, immersive digital experiences, and theater.
The conversation launched the series with a rich exchange of ideas and opened space to question the future of art in a world increasingly shaped by technology.
