Crafts Open Call Event at Albuquerque Foundation, 2025.
In 2025, Rosa Pomar was announced the winner of the Craft Open Call.
As a artist, researcher, author and leading voice in the appreciation of Portuguese wool and traditional textile practices, Pomar is being supported by POR:TA to bring to life her project Rega com gasolina, depois deita fogo (Pour gasoline, then set it on fire), a necessary cry that reflects the crisis of the wool sector and the power to transform fragility into creation and social impact.
In 2024, we launched our first Open Call in Performing Arts, awarding artist Carolina Varela for her project The Invention of Rest, selected by a jury of excellence composed of Aida Tavares, Beatriz Batarda and Kees Eijrond. The call registered strong interest, with over 74 applications reviewed.
The Invention of Rest is a multidisciplinary monologue that reflects on the importance of rest in response to the accelerated pace of contemporary life. Extending beyond the stage, the project engages local communities through a dramaturgy rooted in real stories, framing rest as a political practice. The show will be presented in 2026.
Marcelo Moscheta, in 2023, was awarded the grant for the execution of his exhibition Do Labirinto ósseo do Homem ao eixo do Rochedo, which opened at the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência in Lisbon.
Moscheta's career goes from strength to strength, with his latest museum show at MIEC Museu Internacional da Escultura Contemporânea, Santo Tirso, Portugal, curated by Álvaro Moreira.
Cordel, winner of the Open Call for Music in 2023, was awarded the grant which enabled the duo to complete the production of their album Volume II, which was launched in the Spring of 2024 and includes a collection of illustrations by Pedro Vale complementing this edition.
The album which will be released on vinyl will also be launched digitally with the support of a collection of illustrations by Pedro Vale which will complement this edition.
